Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our shop hours are 10am-6pm Wednesday- Saturday, though our days may vary because some our artists travel frequently! We tend to be in the shop most days of the week, but we are appointment only. If you are wanting to stop by to talk to a specific artist, I suggest emailing us at uppermoontattoo@gmail.com, or reaching out to your artist directly to correlate a day they will be in the shop.

  • If you visit our home page and click on the artist’s profile you would like to book with, there will be instructions on how to book with that artist. You can always email uppermoontattoo@gmail.com if you have any other questions.

  • We do not have a parking lot, but there are a lot of street parking options available around the shop. The closest parking would be on 16th or 17th (on either side of Killingsworth), or directly on Killingsworth, just be mindful of parking signs.

  • PRE APPOINTMENT CARE

-Tattooing can not be preformed if you are pregnant.

-No alcohol or caffeine for at least 24 hours prior to appt.

-You must be off Accutane for at least one year prior to your appt.

-Please ask your doctor prior to booking if any medications you are taking will cause excess bleeding, or affect your healing process.

-No tanning (includes self tanner). Also, we cannot tattoo you with a sunburn, so wear sunscreen or avoiding the sun prior is best!

    -HYDRATE!

-Make sure to get a good nights rest.

-Moisturize the area during the weeks leading up to the appointment. Be sure to let us know if you are having any skin issues (psoriasis, sun burn, eczema, heat rash) in the area where you will be tattooed, as we will need to reschedule if this is the case.

    DAY OF APPOINTMENT

    -Stay hydrated!

-Eat a filling meal prior to arriving.

-Bring a water or something with electrolytes.

-Arrive with clean skin, no training prior (sweating).

    -Bring headphones or a book!

-Wear loose, comfy clothing that you don’t mind getting ink on. Be sure that you are wearing clothes where we can easily access the tattoo area! For example- If you are getting your chest or sternum/stomach tattooed we suggest bringing pasties in case they are needed. If you are getting your back tattooed, you can bring a zip up sweater/flannel/button up to wear backwards. etc.

  • AFTERCARE

You will receive very thorough instructions following your appt, but here are some things to be mindful of when scheduling and selecting your appointment date:

For 2 weeks following your appointment you will want to avoid the following for optimal healing:

    - No Swimming, soaking, hot tubs, pools, baths, saunas, etc.

-No Tanning or Sun bathing, it is recommended to wear loose fitting clothing that will cover your tattoo to protect it form the sun.

-Avoid any activity or exercise that causes excessive sweating or exposure to dust/dirt.

-Avoid Lifting weights. You will not lose gains, trust me.

We do send you home in an adhesive bandage (unless any allergies are present) to protect your new tattoo. Once the bandage comes off, you will go into your regular aftercare routine as listed on your aftercare sheet and directed by your artist.

You are not required to purchase any additional aftercare, but the shop does sell Tattoo Lovers Salve, or an aftercare set of Tattoo Lovers Salve and a 2oz Dr. Bronners baby unscented. This is our suggested method for aftercare, but your artist will let you know what other options would work well too.

  • Cash is always preferred! Speak to your artist directly if you need to use another method, as not everyone accepts the following. Some artists use Venmo, Paypal, Zelle, etc.

  • Typically we are okay with you bringing one guest to your appointment. If more than one person comes with you they may have to wait in the front waiting area, or come back later. No children or minors. If you are wanting to bring your teenager please speak to your artist prior to ask if this is ok. Sessions can be long, so it’s not always ideal/fun for guests, but you are not required to attend alone especially if it makes you feel more comfortable.
